Composite
.......................................................................................................
Composite drawings are the most commonly
used forensic art form. The 2D drawings are done from the description
given by a victim or witness of a suspect. The quality of the drawing
is determined mostly by the memory of the person giving the description,
but is also influenced by the talent level of the artist.
Dalene prefers to do a composite sketch by hand, in a relaxed atmosphere.
She will also consider using a computer program to obtain the basic
description, then takes the print and alters it by hand, adding
the detail and changes that the computer will not allow.
Dalene was given the opportunity to draw her first composite sketch
in November of 2002 when she drew the "Emanuel" sketch
that was used in the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping case. Letters to
Dalene from Ed Smart and Captain Cory Lyman are posted on this website
for you to read.
